$100 Slim-Fast Giveaway

This is a sponsored review from BlogHer and Slim·Fast.

A few days ago, I received confirmation that in May, I'll be giving a talk to the members of a local college sorority.

I don't know all the details yet, I'm sure they will require me to wear a pair of tiny shorts with Greek letters stamped across the buttocks.

I have never stepped foot in a sorority house, but I've heard they have dress codes.

While I am excited about what I'm going to talk about, what I'm really looking forward to is showing off my thighs to a 150 twenty year-olds.

All women over the age of 30 look really good in short-shorts. I am no exception.

In anticipation of this event, I have decided to push my hotness to the next level. I'm already a 10, as most mothers of four young children are, but my husband thinks I'm capable of more.

"This is a chance for you to get and stay healthy," he told me as he gestured toward my decapitated treadmill. He also said something about changing what I eat.

As of today, I'm back on the wagon. How do YOU stay fit and healthy? Give me some advice in the comment section for a chance to win a Slim-Fast gift pack worth $100!

  1. Well, I won't claim to be "fit and healthy" BUT, I'm pretty proud of myself for working out at least 3 X week (sometimes 4 - whoo!) Each year I try to find something that is an enjoyable challenge, such as doing a half-marathon (that was last year) or completing 30 days straight of the "30 day shred" (that was 2009.) This year I'm doing "the Dailey Method" which is yoga/pilates on crack. It is challenging to switch it up, and I end up losing weight when I try something new. (karianna-at-karianna-dot-us)

  18. I'm trying to get fit and healthy, too. I've incorporated a couple of simple changes in my life and they seem to be helping. First, I'm drinking a LOT more water and have (almost) completely eliminated soda. I used to have several sodas a day, now it is more like one or two a week. Second, I'm walking at least 1/2 hour a day without a break -- that is, maintaining a steady pace.

  19. I use sparkpeople.com as one of my biggest "support systems" when I'm focusing on achieving a fitness and healthy eating goal. I make a point to meal plan at least a week in advance and pack my breakfast, lunch and snacks to take with me each day to work (which helps prevent that "oh hey, I'll just swing through the drive through" on the way to work!) I also try to have an accountability buddy that has similar goals so we can support and encourage each other every day and support each other as we work towards our goals! I make a point to take pictures of what I'm eating and blog each day about what I planned to eat and what I did eat to help myself stay accountable.

  51. Journaling. As much as I hated to do it, it was a real eye opener. Once I knew what I was consuming, I could make the proper adjustments in my eating.

Also, reading food labels and paying attention to portion size. I was shocked when I realized a bowl of cereal is really a tea-cup size. I was consuming 3-4x that but not taking those calories into account.
